WMF Roasters

WMF roasters are German-designed roasting pots for the oven and the cooktop, made in three materials: Fusiontec mineral, enamelled Flavour cast iron and Cromargan® 18/10 stainless steel. Every WMF roaster at Michael Joyce works on induction, gas, electric and ceramic cooktops and goes into the oven, so you can sear, roast, braise and serve in one pot. As the official WMF distributor in New Zealand, we deliver free NZ-wide and handle WMF warranty claims locally.

From cooktop to oven to table. German roasters made for the Kiwi Sunday roast.

Roasting tips from WMF

  • Sear first, then roast. Brown meat on the cooktop in the roaster, add liquid and vegetables, cover and move it straight into the oven.
  • Keep the lid on for slow cooking. The lid traps moisture so lamb shanks, pork belly and venison stay tender.
  • Use moderate heat. Fusiontec and cast iron hold heat so well that medium heat is usually enough.
  • Let it cool before washing. Avoid putting a hot roaster into cold water, and hand wash Fusiontec and cast iron to keep them at their best.

WMF roasters: frequently asked questions

What is the best WMF roaster for a Sunday roast?

For a leg of lamb or a whole chicken, the WMF 2-in-1 Oval Roaster (8.5L) or the Flavour Cast Iron Oval Roaster (8.6L) give you the most room. For slow-cooked dishes such as lamb shanks or curries, the 6L Fusiontec Round Roaster is the most versatile choice.

Are WMF roasters suitable for induction cooktops?

Yes. Every WMF roaster we sell works on induction, as well as gas, electric, ceramic and halogen cooktops.

Can WMF roasters go in the oven?

Yes. All WMF roasters are oven-safe. The stainless steel 2-in-1 Oval Roaster is rated to 250°C. For glass lids and other pieces, check the temperature limits on each product page before using high heat.

What is the difference between Fusiontec and cast iron?

Both hold heat very well. Fusiontec heats faster, is lighter than cast iron and resists scratches from metal utensils. Flavour cast iron is heavier and holds heat for longer, which makes it ideal for long braises and bread baking.

Are WMF roasters dishwasher safe?

The Cromargan® stainless steel oval roaster is dishwasher safe. Fusiontec can go in the dishwasher, but WMF recommends hand washing. Flavour cast iron should be hand washed only.

Where are WMF roasters made?

WMF is a German company founded in 1853 in Geislingen an der Steige. Fusiontec cookware is made in Riedlingen, Germany. Check each product page for the country of manufacture of other ranges.

What warranty do WMF roasters have in New Zealand?

Fusiontec and Flavour cast iron carry a 30-year WMF guarantee on their surfaces for domestic use, subject to WMF's conditions. Michael Joyce handles all WMF warranty claims in New Zealand, in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. See our Kitchenware Warranty NZ page.
