Thomas by Rosenthal NZ: frequently asked questions

Where can I buy Thomas by Rosenthal dinnerware in New Zealand?

Michael Joyce is the official New Zealand distributor for Rosenthal and Thomas. Shop the Thomas Loft range online at michaeljoyce.co.nz, including plates, bowls, serving platters, mugs, cups and saucers, teapots and dinner sets, with free NZ delivery and 14-day returns.

Is Thomas porcelain made in Germany?

Yes. Thomas was founded in 1903 by Fritz Thomas in Marktredwitz, Bavaria, and became part of Rosenthal in 1908. Thomas collections are made in Germany at Rosenthal's porcelain factories in Selb and Speichersdorf, Bavaria. Since the 1950s, Thomas has been known for modern, design-led and uncomplicated everyday dinnerware.

Is Thomas Loft dishwasher and microwave safe?

Yes. Thomas Loft is made from high-quality porcelain that is dishwasher safe and microwave safe, so it's made for everyday family meals as well as entertaining.

What makes Thomas Loft dinnerware different?

Thomas Loft was designed by the London studio Queensberry Hunt and launched in 2001. Its signature is a fine-ribbed surface of concentric rings. On the coloured pieces, the glaze settles thicker and thinner over those ribs, so each plate, bowl and mug fires with slightly different shading and a handmade look.

Can I mix and match Thomas Loft colours?

Yes, Thomas Loft is designed to mix and match. In New Zealand it's available in White, Moss Green, Night Blue, Ice Blue and Moon Grey. Start with a white Thomas Loft dinner set, then add coloured side plates, bowls or mugs. Night Blue and Ice Blue suit a coastal Kiwi table, while Moss Green and Moon Grey create a relaxed, natural look.
