WMF cutlery FAQs

What is WMF cutlery made from?

WMF cutlery is made from Cromargan® 18/10 stainless steel, WMF’s own premium alloy of 18% chromium and 10% nickel. It’s rust-free and hard-wearing, so it keeps its good looks for years. Table knives have blades made from special knife steel for a sharp, clean cut.

What is Cromargan® protect?

Cromargan® protect is WMF’s scratch-resistant stainless steel, used on selected cutlery ranges. It’s designed to resist the everyday scratches caused by plates and dishwashers, so polished cutlery stays shiny and matt cutlery stays matt, even after years of use.

Is WMF cutlery dishwasher safe?

Yes. All WMF cutlery made from Cromargan® is dishwasher safe. For the best results, rinse off food soon after use and place cutlery in the basket handles down. Keep different types of cutlery apart to avoid scratches. Unload as soon as the cycle finishes, or open the door to let the steam out, as moisture left sitting can cause water spots. After refilling your dishwasher with salt, run an empty rinse cycle so no salt residue touches your cutlery.

What does the warranty cover?

Your WMF cutlery is covered for manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship under normal household use for 10 years. The warranty doesn’t cover normal wear and tear, such as fine surface scratches, or damage from accidents, misuse or not following the care instructions. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act also apply.

To make a claim, email sales@michaeljoyce.co.nz or call 0800 222 021 with your proof of purchase, a description of the problem and photos. Find out more on our warranty page.
